Another month, another poll.
This time, your thoughts on what type of player is our most pressing need would be most welcome.
Undoubtedly, Le Boss will at some point grandly announce that he sees no reason to sign any new players, and that he is very happy with the current personnel. Those who hear this and annually let out a long groan really needn't worry.
Contrary to popular belief, I'm fairly certain that every summer that Wenger has made such a pronouncement, we've ended up acquiring one or two players, albeit low-key ones. The signings of Sagna and Eduardo immediately spring to mind, however in true Wenger-style they are now pretty much household names.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a simple tactic employed by Wengers to ensure that prices for any of his potential target signings remain on the right side of sensible, and understandably so. That players and their agents haven't tweaked this thus far is what really surprises me.
Anyways, I digress.
This months poll asks - in your opinion, and assuming none of the current first XI leave the club, what kind of player should Wenger sign in the upcoming summer transfer window?
I grappled with setting up the poll to be multiple choice given that most Gooners would want to see more than one signing, however in the interests of elucidating what you believe to be our most pressing need, voting is limited to a single choice (see "poll of the month" panel on left-hand side of this page).

Franck Ribery. We are clearly lacking in wide areas, particularly in terms of the type of dynamic wide man who can beat defenders and score goals. I think Ribery would fit into the current arsenal set-up brilliantly. but i guess he wouldn't come cheap...
David villa. We have adebayor, bendtner, van persie. But they are not good finishers. Ya they score but we need a danger man up front.
A center back I don;t know who but someone. please and throw out that no good sendoros with Djourou.

i think that arsenal should have won the title this season but bottled it near the end it could of been a lack of fitness or they dont have the experience on the team. they are going to lose their best players such as adebayor, hleb but wenger never spends money on top players so he will never be able to compete with the other top teams with young kids. GET A TOP FINISHER WENGER !!!!
I AM SICK OF WENGER DOING THIS EVERY SEASON IT JUST DOESNT WORK. THERES ONLY A FEW PLAYERS WHO BECOME BIG STARS AND THE OTHERS ARE JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH. i think wenger should pull his finger out and buy new player cause if they want to challange the likes of man u and chelsea he will have to spend and buy some top quality players
I am a LFC fan and admire the football played by Arsenal. However it is clear to see they need a new centre midfielder, to replace the workaholic Flamini. I would recommend a player with a little more experience. For example Gattuso. Wenger needs a new centre back to replace Gallas, who i hate. A good target would be City's Mikah Richards, but a more realistic prospect is promoting Song as he shows bags of potential. A wide player who Arsenal must snatch, who they have been linked to, is the french whiz-kid Nasri. I believe he will be the best player in the world under the guidance of Wenger. Wenger needs to realise that youth wont win you the league, and needs to buy good, but experienced players to boost the chances of winning major trophies!
I'm 50/50 on wenger really i have to say im a bit fed up of gettin halfway to winning trophies and not winning them, and also of every season our signings always being french, but maybe this new FIFA regulation about 6 home grown players may make wenger realise he cant keep buying and ignorin the academy and other english players in the prem. Nevertheless we need trophies and to balance it out it seems like wenger does need to spend in the transfer window like chelsea liverpool man utd, aaron ramsey being a good addition already. these are the people i think we need to bring in and get rid:
In: David Villa (Valencia), Daniel Sturridge (Man City), Torsten Frings (Werder Bremen), Vincent Kompany (Hamburg), Ricardo Quaresma (FC Porto) OR Shaun Wright-Phillips (Chelsea) [Either would be difficult or expensive to sign though], Mikel Arteta (Everton, unrecognised talent for years, deserves a National squad place), Joao Moutinho (Sporting Lisboa), Freddy Adu (SL Benfica), Jose Andres Guardado (Deportive La Coruna), Karim Benzema (Lyon), Carlos Kameni (Espanyol), Phillip Lahm (Bayern Munchen) Samir Nasri (Marseille). Any of these would fit in really well with our style of football, possibly defence and goalkeeping positions being the key. Although finance is also a problem, we dont have a lot to spend.
Out: Alexandr Hleb, Nicolas Bendtner, Lukasz Fabianksi, William Gallas, Tomas Rosicky.
Despite all of them being great individual players and having good stints they haven't proved themselves worthy of their transfers. Hleb is amazing with skill and down the wing but with him set on a move he will be hard to keep. Bendtner isn't a out n out striker like van Persie or Adebayor and needs either a loan spell or a complete move to mature. Fabianski has been a total waste. Gallas and his antics in the Birmingham game proved he aint a captain despite netting the most goals as a defender for us, and despite his consistency i dont thnk he has been worth it from chelsea. Rosicky is injured a lot and only netting 2-3 goals since joining from dortmund couple years ago, his best years have been in germany.
Wenger needs to look at his academy and wake up we got quality players there too, dont jus bring one or two in every season, we got the champs league final with the youngest squad in the tournament. Carlos Vela of Mexico is a class act, as well as Merida Perez, Armand Traore and Abou Diaby.
So it's simple really even with the problem of financing: TWIST or BUST Wenger coz we Arsenal fans are getting restless.
I think Arsenal should buy a player for each area. Here are my choices.
Goalkeeper:Igor Akinfeev (5M)
Defender:Richard Dunne (2.5M)
Midfielder:Frank Ribery (12.5M)
Attacker:Andre Arshavin (10M)
