much of a muchness and little more
It really is going down to the wire!
So just like everyone predicted, this season really, most definitely, is going down to the wire.
This weekends game between Manchester Utd and Chelsea saw the Mancs play at their worst, and concede their first penalty in the league. Chelsea on the other hand, seemed to play at their very best since 'The Loud-Mouthed One' unceremoniously left the West London club at the beginning of the season.
Fergie's moaning again, this time about the penalty - the Manc penalty against Gallas is certainly no worse than the penalty they conceded against Chelsea at the weekend. Myopia rules supreme (this blog included!).
Babushka!
Could the Man United post-match warm-up tussle with the Chelsea stewards as photographed by the Sun be their 'Gallas' moment for this seasons?
Could be, or maybe not.
Now I'm aware of the stereotypical but totally inaccurate 'babushka' image of fat Russian ladies (the Russians have some of the most beautiful women on the planet), but really, how on Earth could Rio Ferdinand mistake a female Chelsea steward for an advertising hoarding?
Lessons for our kids
Whoever wins the league this season, Chelsea or Manchester Utd, I sincerely hope the Arsenal kids are watching.
If we'd won 2-3 out of the draws against Birmingham (twice), Blackburn, Newcastle, Wigan, Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Middlesborough, Liverpool (twice) we'd be in pole position to win the league right now.
Something to consider for next season then?
Arsenal still in the chase!
Ok, that was a terrible joke.
Still, we are, supposedly, mathematically in it. For example, if Manchester Utd and Chelsea both draw and lose a game each, and we win all our games, then I make it that we take the title.
Haha!
Fat chance.
Modric condemns career to Tottenham?
Another quality player goes to Tottenham. Wenger apparently looked at Modric for a while, and decided not to whip out his wallet.
I'm tempted to make cheap and snide comments about where all the quality players Tottenham have signed in the last few years have ended up. Ramos seems different to previous Tottenham managers - he comes across as meaning business.
We'll see how well they do next season, when he'll have started with them from the beginning.
Fulham to stay up?
Ok, ok, I know, Fulham have caused us problems this and last season, but the way they're playing, they deserve to stay up.
Plus I think I'd get on well with Jimmy Bullard if he were my mate (you know what I mean) - he is a very nice fellow indeed - good to see him back, playing so well after his long term injury as well.
If you ask me who might well be going down in addition to Derby, I'm thinking Bolton and Birmingham. Don't ask me why, I couldn't tell you.
Wenger goes on the defensive offensive!
Wenger was out of the blocks early, going on the offensive to defend the Arsenal players from being tapped up.
He even went as far as mentioning the 'F' word (FIFA) to show how serious he was about it. Various newspapers are reporting that we've lost Hleb to Inter Milan, and Inter's Mancini's finding himself on the backfoot denying all rumours of having approached the Arsenal midfielder.
And then there's the Flamini malarkey.
Apparently Wenger's recently upped the Frenchman's weekly wage yet again, in an attempt to keep him at Ashburton Grove - but has also announced a deadline (April) by which we should all know how this particular saga is going to end.
It's going to be a long summer.
Nothing much has changed then.
