arsenal shut door on bolton

Oh the irony of it, would this weekends brilliant comeback by Arsenal at the Reebok be to commit Bolton Wanderers to relegation.

Far be it for me to rejoice in another clubs demise, however I do have to admit to prejudicial leanings, considering the footballing philosophy (if one can call it that) that us Arsenal fans have had to endure at the hands of this Bolton team.

For the last 5-6 years, Bolton have come to represent the exact opposite of what Arsenal stands for.

A trend started by the now out-of-work Allerdyce, the appointment of Gary Megson has seen the return of the same physical, long ball approach that yielded somewhat short-term dividends - except that this doesn't seem to have been enough to save the side from dropping down a league.

To be fair, some would argue, and not without justification, that all due respect to the Championship, Bolton's play is arguably more suited to the next league down from the Premiership, and I say that with tongue firmly not in cheek.

So Arsenal seem to have shut the door on Bolton, and their results from the next six games will determine if the door gets locked.

And if Bolton do get relegated, many an Arsenal fan would say good riddance.

To that I would add poetic justice.
